'BACK THERE' - TRACK BY TRACK
1. All Kinds of Beautiful
M.Dodson/D.Berg/R.Lynn Howard
(Blacktop/Sony Music Publishing)
When I heard this song, I knew I just had to have it on the album. Sometimes is easy to get bogged down with all the bad news we hear on the TV, or the mundane things we do from day to day, that we seldom remember all the wonderful moments that happen everyday. Holding hands, a child’s laughter, an act of kindness or a kiss, these are ‘all kinds of beautiful’.

2. Good Friends & Good Times
T.Killeen/D.McAlister
(APRA/EMI Publishing Australia)
Drew & I set out to write a song about the age old tradition of the Aussie BBQ. Getting together with good friends & family, enjoying a drink or two... hiccup! With everyone so busy these days, it’s a great way to catch up & share some good times, & pull out those bad jokes…

3. Back There
T.Kerr
(Control)
For this album I went back to my roots. As I started out as a soloist, it was like returning home, back there, where it all began. This is why I chose it as the title. The song itself is about reflection, for me personally, I think of me & my 3 sisters, riding our bikes, rolling down the hill we lived on, climbing trees, swimming in the creek. Sometimes I just close my eyes & go ‘back there’.

4. Never Seen the Rain
T.Killeen/S.Storer/A.Lawrence
(APRA/ABC Publishing/Destra)
This song came about from an article my husband David gave me & he suggested it would make a great song. Sure enough it did.The story of this little brother & sister who had never seen the rain, really brought home how bad this drought has been. It was honour collaborating with Amber & Sara on this song.

5. Granville
T.Killeen/R.Corbett
(APRA/APRA)
Reading about the 30th anniversary of the Granville train disaster, where a train traveling from the Blue Mountains, derailed & struck a bridge, which collapsed onto the train, killing 83 people, I was moved by survivor’s comments & how so many are still affected 30 years on. I wrote the song & took it to my producer, & we re-worked it together, basing it around a fictive passenger on the train. This song really got to me, as we never know when our time will come.

6. A Little Time
T.Killeen/R.Corbett
(APRA/APRA)
This song about being hurt by a past relationship, & not seeing yourself ever trusting, or loving again (I guess we’ve all been there). When you’ve been hurt before you look for signs that it might fall apart, your heart’s under construction, so you’re usually wary, but hey, love is a gamble, & it’s just gonna take a little time.

7. My Dad
T.Killeen
(APRA)
My Dad is one of my heroes, & I wrote this song about him nearly two years ago... I loved hearing the stories of his life growing up on a dairy farm, the hard work that he, his brothers & sisters had to do. He must have loved it too, because in adulthood he became a beef farmer, thank goodness he didn’t get me to milk 200 cows before school!

8. Take You Back
T.Killeen/R.Corbett
(APRA/APRA)
This song came about when a couple of my friends were going out with these guys that just didn’t treat them great (been there done that). They’d break up, & then take them back. I hated watching them get hurt time & time again, but I guess everyone learns from their own mistakes & thankfully they’re not with them anymore.

9. One More Gone
T.Killeen/D.McAlister
(APRA/EMI Publishing Australia)
I’m so blessed with my performing that I get to travel to so many places. I love going through the little country towns, with the history, the people, they’ve all got stories to tell. I get sad though when I see these towns dying out, as the kids move to the cities in search of work & more opportunity, there’s one more gone.

10. Letting Go
T.Killeen
(APRA)
There’s always a time in your life where you have to take a risk, whether it’s for a new job, a move, a new haircut, or even a new boyfriend. This song is all about Letting go of what you know & trying something new. I left Melbourne in 2000 to move to Sydney for my music, & even though I was scared at first because I didn’t know anyone, it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. You’ll never know until you try.

11. Way Into My Heart
T.Killeen/R.Corbett
(APRA/APRA)
Growing up, my mum used to sing all around the house, & this is where I got my love for music. My best memories are of mum singing ‘Catch a falling Star’ & ‘Blue Eyes Crying’, she sang her way into my heart.

12. Almost Feeling Good
T.Krekel
(Blue Water Music Australia)
I loved this song as soon as I heard it, the concept of getting over someone, & almost feeling good is so true to life. If you’ve ever gone through a break up, where even though it hurts at the time, you come to realise that it really was for the best, & the pain starts to lessen (chocolate helps), you know you’re gonna be ok.
